Greetings, Class of 2010—I hope everyone had a great summer and is looking forward to Homecoming this fall!

There are few marathons across the country that have the fame and reputation of the Boston Marathon. This past spring, Chris Harmon became the top Maine finisher for the second year in a row with a time of 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 57 seconds. Chris finished 293rd overall out of over 30,000 runners in his second Boston Marathon.

In 2011, Charley Friedman and Devin McNeill founded Flowfold, a startup company based in Portland, ME, which builds minimalist gear for outdoor adventure. The company now has seven employees and products that can be found in stores such as L.L. Bean and Eastern Mountain Sports. They also hired James Morin to be their COO and president of sales. James works with Charley and Devin to grow the company, which has already seen 100 percent year-over-year growth.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in forestry, Cassie Vaillancourt ’12G went on to receive her MBA from the University of Maine. Her undergraduate and graduate degree combination made her a great fit to work as an operations planner in the supply chain department at Sappi North America. She is able to use her business skills to improve the performance of Sappi’s paper mills while continuing to work in the forestry industry.

Congratulations to Sarah Snow and Eric Bailey, who were married earlier this summer. The two received master’s degrees from the University of Maine in 2012 and currently reside in Maryland.

Congratulations to everyone for their successes in their careers and personal lives, and thank you for continuing to make the University of Maine proud.

If anyone has anything they would like me to add in future columns please let me know and I will put it in the next column. Until then, enjoy the remainder of your 2017!
