2015 Donald V. Taverner Scholarship Application

The Senior Alumni (University of Maine alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago) will select approximately 15 to 20 new undergraduate scholarship recipients for 2016-17.  Part-time students receive $1,250 and full-time students $2,500.  Awards are renewable for eligible recipients for the 2016-17 academic year -- no reapplication is needed.  New and renewed scholarships combined assist about 35 students each year. First-time applicants are preferred.  The application deadline is Monday, February 2, 2016.  Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:


• Be 24 years of age or older; if younger, have legal dependents or be a ward of the state, orphaned or a veteran.

• Be currently enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours or more) as a UMaine undergraduate degree student and plan to continue at least half-time as an undergraduate in 2016-17.  Students without their first BA/BS degree receive preference.

• Filed a FAFSA for 2015-2016 and displayed significant financial need and will file a FAFSA for 2016-17.

• Have completed a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours at the University of Maine by December 2014.

• Have a minimum accumulated UMaine undergraduate GPA of at least a 2.5.
