2014 Donald V. Taverner Scholarship Application

The Senior Alumni (University of Maine alumni who have graduated 50 or more years ago) will select approximately 15 to 20 new undergraduate scholarship recipients for 2014-15.  Part-time students receive $1,000 and full-time students $2,000.  Awards are renewable for eligible recipients for the 2015-16 academic year -- no reapplication is needed.  New and renewed scholarships combined assist about 35 students each year. First-time applicant’s preferred.  The application deadline is February 1, 2014. Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

• Be 24 years of age or older; if younger, have legal dependents or be a ward of the state, orphaned or a veteran
• Be currently enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours or more) as a UMaine undergraduate degree student and plan to continue at least half-time as an undergraduate in 2014-15.  Students without their first BA/BS degree receive preference
• Filed a FAFSA for 2013-2014 and displayed significant
 financial need and will file a FAFSA for 2014-15
• Have completed a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours at the University of Maine by December 2013
• Have a minimum accumulated UMaine undergraduate GPA of 2.5.
