2016 Non-Traditional Student Scholarship Application

The Senior Alumni (University of Maine alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago) will select approximately 15 to 20 new undergraduate scholarship recipients for 2016-2017.  Part-time students receive $1,250 and full-time students $2,500.  Awards are renewable for eligible recipients for the 2017-2018 academic year -- no reapplication is needed.  New and renewed scholarships combined assisted 25 students last year. First-time applicants are preferred.  The application deadline is Friday, February 12, 2016.  Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

• Be 24 years of age or older; if younger, have legal dependents or be a ward of the state, orphaned or a veteran.

• Be currently enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours or more) as a UMaine undergraduate degree student and plan to continue at least half-time as an undergraduate in 2016-17.  Students without their first BA/BS degree receive preference.

• Filed a FAFSA for 2015-2016 and displayed significant financial need and will file a FAFSA for 2016-17.

• Have completed a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours at the University of Maine by December 2015.
