Winter Session Registration is Now Open!

UMaine’s Winter Session, an opportunity for learners of all ages to take university courses to earn college credit online, will run Dec. 27, 2018 through Jan. 16, 2019. Registration is open and a list of courses is available here.

Third-year student Lydia Elwell, history and education major, has many positive things to say about the program.

“I chose to take a Winter Session course because it allowed me to get ahead of the credits I needed for graduation. Because of the options for distance and online learning, I have been able to take additional courses and plan on graduating a year early, saving me time and money in my career here at the university,” she says. “This course also allowed me to have a lighter course load during my spring semester, making it easier to focus on my individual classes and have success during the regular academic year.”

This year 34 online courses will be offered, several of which fulfill general education requirements as well as some 300- and 400-level options. The program continues to grow and is an integral part of Think 30the university’s initiative that encourages students to take 30 credits per year to graduate in four years and reduce student loan debt.

Last year more than 1,200 students took a Winter Session course – up 27 percent over the previous year, and 72 percent higher than the first year. For more information, click here.
