Class of 1989 Spring 2025 Class Note

Hello, ’89ers!

I hope some of you were able to reconnect during Homecoming last October. Please send along any photos if you have them!

Cyr Martin (BCC/legal tech) stepped down from his role as Ashland town manager and police chief as of December 31, 2024. He had been pulling double duty for quite a while: seven years as town manager and 20 years as police chief. He will step up to a new position as executive director of the Aroostook Regional Transportation System in Presque Isle. Said Cyr, “I think it’s an excellent program and I think it will be right up my alley.” (Bangor Daily News, 07/19/24)

Troy Bires (UBC/legal tech) was named the police chief in Ellsworth last July. Troy played an important role in helping Ellsworth become accepted into the Maine Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (MLEAP) in 2022. City Manager Charlie Pearce said, “His passion for his work and dedication to ensuring the department’s success was evident throughout the interview process.” (Ellsworth American, 07/30/24)

Here’s hoping you have a fantastic winter! Hit the slopes, sip some hot cocoa, lace up some skates, and fill the steins to Dear Old Maine!
