Class of 2017 Fall Class Notes

Hello, Class of 2017! I’d like to introduce myself — I am Erica Wolfe, B.A. in economics, operations manager for the UMaine Alumni Association, and your new class columnist. Our class hasn’t had a dedicated columnist in quite some time, and I’m happy to step into the role. As a nontraditional commuter student raising a young child while earning my degree, I didn’t form many personal connections with classmates during my time at UMaine. Through this column, I look forward to learning more about my fellow 2017 Black Bears and sharing your stories and updates.

Last time, we shared the exciting news that basketball star Sigi Koizar was inducted into the UMaine Sports Hall of Fame. More great news for Sigi — she recently extended her contract with the Austrian team BK Raiffeisen Duchess, following the team’s triumph in February, securing the Basketball Austria Cup title. BK Raiffeisen Duchess recently clinched the 2024–2025 Austrian Women’s Basketball Bundesliga championship. The team swept UBI Graz in the finals, sealing the title with a dominant 83–59 win in Game 3.

Kendra Ramsell, senior civil engineer at Sebago Technics, had quite an exciting late 2024. In August, she was promoted to project manager, followed by a September wedding to fellow Black Bear Colin Marass ’10. Kendra has been with Sebago Technics since 2017 as a civil engineer. Congratulations, Kendra!

In personal news, I am proud to say that I have managed to expand my role at the Alumni Association to include not only columnist but part-time artist. Two of my watercolor doodles have been used in our communications recently — our holiday card and our new birthday card both feature my work.

I look forward to hearing from you and having a meatier column for the next magazine, so please reach out to me and let me know what you have been up to. If you have recently gotten married, we would love to feature your photo in the next issue, a great keepsake for your wedding album. Other life updates, career changes or promotions, additional degrees earned, awards and recognitions, exotic pet adoptions — whatever you have going on, we’d love to hear it! Until next time, take care and have a wonderful summer.
