Class 2009 Fall Class Notes

Greetings, Class of 2009! I hope the summer season is treating you kindly and that this column finds you well. Here is the latest and greatest news about your fellow classmates.

Revision Energy has a new director of commercial sales in Heather Deese ’09 Ph.D., formerly of Dandelion Energy and the Island Institute.

Nicholas Patenaude was promoted to regional vice president and treasurer at Kennebec Savings Bank. Nick, who has been with Kennebec Savings since 2010, is “thrilled for the opportunity to grow in this role.”

Meanwhile, over at accounting firm Albin, Randall, & Bennett, Matthew Marcoullier ’10G has been promoted to director. Matthew is a CPA and has been with the firm since 2013.

Speaking of another type of ascendancy altogether, in October 2024, Elana Mugdan published her ninth novel, Dragon Ascendant. The book is a sequel to her award-winning series of five young adult fantasy genre novels making up the Shadow War Saga. Her books are widely available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or direct from her online store.

From the West Coast, Megan Soderberg reports that she is working as a set decoration coordinator on the Apple TV+ show Loot, which stars Maya Rudolph. Megan has also been engaged in mutual aid work to support her Los Angeles community since the devastating LA wildfires in early 2025. More than 300 members of the IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) union who lived in Altadena lost their homes. And lastly, early in 2025 Chris Tarbell ’14G tied the knot with longtime partner Olivia Parker at the Picnic House in Brooklyn, New York’s Prospect Park. Several Black Bears were in attendance, including your very own class correspondent and my spouse, Kevin Foss ’96.
