Class 2007 Fall Class Notes

Greetings, classmates! I am happy to share an update on our classmates and their achievements.

Lisa Fletcher Frazell was appointed development director of the Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park in Winter Harbor, where she is leading fundraising efforts to support science, education, and stewardship for parks, people, and the planet. Previously Lisa was the executive director of development at Husson University.

Katahdin Trust named classmate Tom Dwyer as their new assistant vice president, commercial services officer. In this role, Tom will assist in developing and servicing commercial loan and banking relationships in greater Bangor. Tom previously worked for Camden National Bank, Target, and Bed Bath & Beyond, where he held leadership positions.

Bob Williams ’08G was hired as senior vice president and controller at Bangor Savings Bank. Most recently, Bob was the chief financial officer of the University Credit Union. He also gained important experience by previously working at Cross Insurance, Penquis Community Action Agency, and BerryDunn.

The city of South Portland promoted Nicholaus Richard to code enforcement division director. Nicholaus has been a code enforcement officer across Maine, most recently in Lewiston, where he served as the building/plumbing inspector as well. He holds certifications with the International Code Council and is a member of the Maine Building Officials and Inspectors Association.

Jessie Muhlin founded Buba OG, a frozen cookie dough business in Bangor. She used her prior experience in marine biology to create a flavor containing seaweed harvested in Maine, called The Selkie Sea Biscuit. Jessie runs her small business with the help of her husband while also working as a professor at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine.

Sarah Eremita ’12G was recently named director of events for NextHome Experience in Bangor. She first joined NextHome Experience as a REALTOR® in 2019. Her first project in this new role is planning the NextHome Unleashed: Real Estate Revolution conference in Bangor this July for 400 real estate professionals. The purpose of the conference is to assist both novice and experienced realtors network with industry professionals, learn from top experts, and explore the latest trends in the field in hopes of developing new skills and upping their game.

In April, the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce celebrated the winners of their annual awards. These award winners include our very own Annette Dodd! Annette was awarded the “Spirit of the Region” Cultural Award for her work promoting the arts in Bangor, including collaborating with Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness and students at the Abraham Lincoln School for various projects.

Our class also includes two inductees into athletic halls of fame. Hannah Bogar Peyrouse was inducted into the Mt. Blue High School Athletics Hall of Fame. At Mt. Blue, Hannah was a member of the nordic and alpine ski teams. Hannah helped lead these teams to state championships every year she was a member. She was state champion in freestyle and classic skiing her senior year. Two-sport All-American, Arel Gordon was inducted into the UMaine Sports Hall of Fame. On the football field, Arel was a return specialist, a wide receiver, and a running back, setting many single season records. These include career punt returns for touchdowns (3) and single-season kick return yards (729). He shares records for longest kickoff return (100 yards) and kickoff returns for touchdowns in a season (2). After football, Arel joined the track team. He holds school records in the 55-meter, 60-meter and 200-meter races. He also qualified for the NCAA indoor track and field championship for the 60 meters, where he placed seventh and set a new school record, all while injured.

Finally, Emilie Throckmorton G, ’12 C.A.S. was named a finalist for the 2025 Maine Teacher of the Year. Emilie is an English language arts teacher at Bangor High School and previously earned the 2024 Penobscot County Teacher of the Year title. She is known for her inclusive, student-centered approach to teaching and works to foster a love for reading and writing. Emilie and her three co-finalists were celebrated at the 11th annual education gala in Bangor in March.
