Besides being a UMaine graduate, Susan Tracy has a noteworthy connection to the university campus. Her grandfather, John E. Stewart, was the namesake of Stewart Commons. Mr. Stewart graduated from the University of Maine in 1927 and earned a master’s degree the following year. He later taught math on campus and served as Dean of Men from 1959-1961.
In 2024, a rededication of Stewart Commons (formerly East Commons) took place, where his portrait and plaque were restored.
