Class of 2012 Spring Class News

Greetings, UMaine Class of 2012, from your new class column writer – Jeffrey Falvey. I was asked to provide an introduction about myself, my days in Orono, and what I am up to now. I lived in Orono from 2008 – 2014. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from UMaine in child development & family relations (’12) and a master’s degree in human development (’14). During my first four years at Maine, I was a tight end on the football team. During my master’s, I worked as the graduate assistant for Dr. Sandy Caron and I was also elected president of the Graduate Student Government, to which I served from 2013 – 2014. As you can see, being a Black Bear was something I enjoyed and took seriously. After my years at Maine, I pursued a law degree. I graduated from Suffolk University Law School and passed the Massachusetts bar exam shortly after graduating in 2017. In law school, I met my now wife, Louise, who also graduated from Suffolk Law. Since then, I have been consistently practicing law in the civil litigation space, representing both plaintiffs and defendants, in Massachusetts and several other states. I currently am employed as an attorney at Campbell, Conroy & O’Neil in Boston, where my professional focus is defending corporate entities in civil lawsuits.

More personally, I live outside of Boston in Middlesex County with my wife, our two sons (Gabriel and Raphael), and our Vizsla (Beacon). I remain in close contact with many of our classmates from Maine and when I received the alumni magazine noting the need for a new class correspondent for 2012, I thought, “why not!?”

As part of this position, I am looking for fellow Class of 2012 alums with good stories and/or updates to share. Please email me at jfalvey19@gmail.com with your story, life update, or something exciting you have done professionally. I will do my best to highlight as many of you as possible, but be patient because there is a bit of a backlog!

As for our great alumni, my quarterback and former roommate at the infamous Bennoch, Warren Smith was tabbed to be the head football coach at Absegami High School in Galloway, NJ. Warren was an assistant coach at Lacey High School for years and was also a schoolteacher. He played professional football in Germany, and then in the Arena League for several years, but always knew that coaching football was his calling. Warren’s entire adult life circulates around his love of the game, his (soon-to-be) wife, Jess, and their baby girl, Charlotte. Absegami got themselves a true “football guy” in Smith, or as some call him “Splinter.”

Colby Adolphsen was recognized this year in the Portland Press Herald for his masterful Lego builds at the Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk. Colby, a lifetime Mainer from Waldoboro, is an in-state artist who recreates iconic Maine locations with Legos. He works full time as a data analyst in the Safety Department at Pen Bay Hospital in Rockport. When he is not ensuring the safety of patients in the hospital, he is building masterpieces of glorious coastal sights. Colby lives with his wife and has two young sons and a daughter.
