Eight Black Bears are competing in the Olympics in Beijing this month. Two current members of UMaine’s women’s ice hockey team, junior Amalie Andersen ’23 and Rahel Enzler, a sophomore, will play for the Danish and Swiss teams, respectively. Other women ice hockey players include recent graduates Tereza Vanisova ’20 and Vendula Pribylova ’20 playing for the Czech Republic, their native country, and Michelle Weis Hansen ’21, who like Andersen, is a member of the Danish team. University of Maine alumnus Adrián Holešinský is a member of Team Slovakia’s ice hockey team.
Off the ice, Jimmy Reed ‘14 and Frank Del Duca ’14 are members of Team USA’s bobsled team.
