Jim Montgomery ’93 Named Head Coach of Boston Bruins

UMaine Sports Hall of Famer Jim Montgomery ’93, of the 1992-93 NCAA National Championship Men’s Ice Hockey team, has just been named head coach of the Boston Bruins, making him the 29th coach in the team’s history.

Montgomery will leave his role as assistant coach of the St. Louis Blues. He played four seasons at the University of Maine (1989-1993) before signing with the Blues of the National Hockey League. He finished his career with UMaine as the all-time leading scorer with 301 point and his number, 19, was retired by the ice hockey program.
