Two UMaine Alums Eat Their Way Through All Pat’s Pizza Locations in 24 Hours

Matt Clark ‘00 and brother-in-law Matt Grondin ‘01 took the ultimate road-trip – one that took them through all 17 Pat’s Pizza locations in 24 hours last month.

What first opened as Farnsworth’s Cafe, an ice cream parlor selling ice creams and confections, became an Orono staple when owner “Pat” Farnsworth added pizza to the menu in 1953. This change quickly transformed the cafe into “Pat’s Pizza” as we know it today.

Clark and Grondin grew fond of the pizza shop during their time at school. “We would go down to the tap room or delivery for the dorms,” Clark said. “Double-dough, with pepperoni. That was our pizza back in the dorm.” Watch their interview with WABI here.

Their journey, with live updates on their Facebook page throughout the day, also raised over $1,000 for the Good Shepherd Food Bank. The pair, tired (and full) after the trip, will plan another “road rally fundraiser” again.
