Class 1986 Fall Class Notes

It’s been a gorgeous summer here in Maine so far and there seems to be no end to lawn mowing yet.

Kelly Goddard Clark’s book Getting Back to Work: How to Piece Your Well-Being Back Together When Unemployment Strikes at Midlife was recently published by Winter Island Press. Following graduation, Kelly earned a master’s degree in public policy and management from the University of Southern Maine, Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service; and both a master’s degree in human development and a Ph.D. in human and organizational systems from Fielding Graduate University. Her book, based on research conducted for her dissertation, explored the stories of 15 New Hampshire workers who experienced sudden job loss and long-term unemployment at midlife. Kelly focused on the five practical approaches and actions these men and women took to rebuild their lives and seek new opportunities. In addition to this work, she has been an executive at AARP for nearly 20 years and serves on the NH Workforce Innovation Board.

Perennial good news from Kissy Walker, as she became the first female college coach in Maine to reach the 600-win plateau. Now in her 34th season coaching women’s basketball at Husson University in Bangor, Kissy has continually piled up awards and Hall of Fame inductions, many of which have been documented in this column over the years.

Keep the lawn mowed, enjoy the summer days, and stay in touch!
