Dear Classmates,

This is the first time that I have no news to report since I began writing the column in 1996. Over the years I have enjoyed hearing from old friends and making new friends through the correspondence. However, our ranks have thinned, and our adventures these days are often medical. I hope this is not our last column, but it will be unless I hear from you.

As for me, I enjoy living at Thornton Oaks in Brunswick. In the summer musicians from the Bowdoin International Music School come to us and present a concert once a week, and many of us take the Thornton Oaks bus to the larger concerts. And then there is also the Maine State Music Theater. Our cottage in Harpswell is just 20 minutes away so Forrest and I spend a lot of time there in the good weather. In August 2018 I will be having a solo show of my paintings here at Thornton Oaks. The title will be Journeys. I have loved painting the Maine landscape, but for this show I am going back to my photos of trips abroad that we took during our traveling days to Scotland, Norway, Australia, South America, Iceland, and other places. For me art has been a journey from early days in Brunswick High School to a class with Vincent Hartgen, classes at Maine College of Art, and workshops with internationally known painters. The journey isn’t over yet. I’m still learning and having fun with my paints.

I hope I will be able to report next time that our class was well represented at the Senior Alumni Reunion in September 2017.
