I hope everyone is having a great fall!

Not much to report this time around—send us your updates—we’d love to hear from you!

Our classmate and former UMaine football player, Brian Gaine, has moved from the Houston Texans, where he was the director of player personnel, to the Buffalo Bills, where he will serve as the VP of player personnel. His NFL career has included a start with the NY Jets, then the Dallas Cowboys, then Miami Dolphins before going to the Texans. As a Black Bear, Brian brought in 74 passes as tight end. Congrats on the new role, Brian!

In other sporting news, Derek Soule was inducted into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame. At Greely High School, Derek has coached the Rangers for 17 seasons, winning four state championships. He also played there as an all-conference infielder. Congratulations, Derek!

Hope this finds you well!

Hugo V. Alvarez, a shareholder in the national law firm of Becker & Poliakoff, was recently awarded the 2017 Legal Luminary Award by the Dade County Bar Association. He was also listed in the 2018 Best Lawyers in America and the 2017 Super Lawyers in Florida. Hugo’s work focuses on civil and commercial litigation involving business disputes, real estate, and insurance-related claims. Another UMaine grad, George Burgess ’80, also works at the same firm.

I hope this finds everyone well!
