Recently had a nice chat with Will Farnham, who called to say his oldest son, Doug Farnham, has been made Major General USAF. Doug is also Adjutant General for the State of Maine. Will is a very proud father! In further news, he and wife, Elanna Crowley Farnham ’81, have made the big move from Brewer to South Portland.
Making a move also are Torrey and Jennifer Sylvester, who are forsaking The County and moving from New Limerick to the York County area to be near children and grandkids. They have lived there for 48 years.
Leonard and Martha Berry (a graduate of UMaine Machias, formerly known as Washington State Teacher’s College) are proud of their granddaughter Katelyn Jean Manzo ’18, who graduated summa cum laude with a degree in computer science. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and was named Outstanding Graduate in the College of Liberal Arts and Science. The family recently had a reunion on the North Carolina Outer Banks with Martha’s sister-in-law Joan Burgess Hodgdon ‘59. Thirty family and friends attended.
Gary Priest, who summers in Rangeley, has written several books about the region including a historic look at the many resort camps in the area.
Alli Gilmore, a member of our adopted Class of 2019, represented the university at a national collegiate dressage competition in Ohio. She did very well and placed 11th among the top 50 college dressage riders. She is a civil engineering major from Barrington, RI.
The annual Senior Alumni Reunion was held in September. Several ‘59 classmates attended and President Don Cookson arranged for a 1959 table. Helen “Duckie” Inman has accepted chairmanship of our 60th Reunion, September 12-14, 2019! She welcomes volunteers for her planning team. You can email her at firstname.lastname@example.org or write her at 10 Aarons Way, Hampden, ME. She would love to hear some ideas for activities.
Don’t forget the Blaine Moores Scholarship Challenge!
