Class of 1963 News and Updates

Greetings, here are some updates on Class activity:

Finances:  As of June 30 there was $3,469 in the class account.  The Class Scholarship was valued at $72,486 thanks to the class contribution of $10,000, individual contributions, and $7,500 in matching funds from the University of Maine Foundation.

Last year our classmates donated over $200,000 to a wide range of scholarships, activities and organizations at UMaine.  This year, we surpassed the $200,000 mark in June!  A big Thank You to all who contributed.

Project Status: The Page Museum will use the $5,000 we donated for repairs to the silo that shelters the elevator.  UMAA has used $1,000 of the $10,000 we donated for UMaine advocacy for a legislative reception in Augusta.  The Kenneth Allen Scholarship has been initiated with our $10,000 contribution, and we are listed as donors ($5,000) to the new Engineering and Design building.  We have completed all the expenditures approved last year.

Mini Reunion:  We are planning a one-day event in Portland on Thursday, June 18, 2020. Our tentative schedule is as follows:  Coffee, greeting and a short business meeting, lunch at DiMillo’s, harbor cruise and tour of the Civil War Museum on Peaks Island, and maybe a dinner that night if there is sufficient interest.  More details coming in January, and registration material will be sent out in April.
