Class of 1967 Winter 2022 Class Note

Happy 2022, everyone. News has been a bit sparse recently, so please communicate and let your classmates know what’s happening.

I am sorry to report that my husband, Dick, passed away November 14th after a period of declining health. We are planning a celebration of life memorial service, with the date unknown at this time.

Many thanks to Ray Houston, who sent the following news:

“My wife, Ann, and I have resided in Jericho, VT, since 1988. Moved to Vermont to work as a field service engineer for a photo-lithography company that had contracts with IBM — in Essex Junction, VT. I retired in 2008 and keep busy with many home projects at our Vermont residence and at our vacation home in Maine.

“We love the summers and fall in New England with its beautiful landscape, temperate climate, wonderful people, and lots of golf. Ann and I have been members of the West Bolton Golf Club since 1993. This is a gorgeous venue in the Green Mountains located about 20 miles from Burlington, VT.

“The club created a new flight for its many seniors in the Championship event this year. The name is Super-Senior (70-plus group) Championship Flight. I competed in the two-day event and battled courageously during an August weekend. I had a very successful weekend — shooting scores of 85 and 80. I was very fortunate and blessed to win by one stroke. Played with a great group of fellas that were supportive of each other.

“Need to acknowledge my own hard work of much practice often going into the twilight hours — but also my wife’s input of keeping my diet and physical regimen on a dedicated schedule. She makes sure I eat nutritious food and exercise moderately. Ann also plays a very good game, and we sometimes play together in couple groups.

“I am elated at winning — especially at my age (76). Hope to keep my good play continuing and be an inspiration to other alumni who graduated from University of Maine. I wish all of our Class of ’67 the very best.”
