Hope everyone made it through the winter intact. Spring can never come too early here in northern New England. It’s a good time to catch up on what the Class of ’82 has been up to.

Kris Scribner Cornish closed her Lisbon business, Drapeau’s Costumes, at the end of 2017. The store was the go-to place for costume rentals for Halloween, parties, and theater performances for more than 60 years. Kris liquidated the entire collection of thousands of costumes, many hand-sewn, before closing the shop. Good luck to Kris in the next chapter!

Edmond J. Bearor was recognized as a New England Super Lawyer for 2017. To be selected as a Super Lawyer, candidates must be nominated by their peers and evaluated on 12 indicators of professional achievement. Congratulations to Ed on an impressive achievement.

Jay Miele was named vice president of operations at Allnorth Americas, a leading engineering and technical services company. Jay is putting his more than 30 years of experience in the international pulp and paper industry to work in the company’s new office in Alpharetta, GA. Jay majored in mechanical engineering at the University of Maine and earned an MBA at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. Congratulations to Jay on his new role.

Longtime educator Joseph Mattos G, ’11 EDD of Oakland is back as a part-time superintendent of schools after having retired in 2010. He will serve as part-time head of Administrative District 3, working 50 days a year. Joseph, who received his doctorate in education at UMaine, brings a wealth of experience to the Fayette School Department in the Winthrop Lakes Region, which operates its own elementary school and tuitions students to middle and high schools elsewhere. Before retiring, he served as assistant superintendent of schools for 10 years in Waterville. Best wishes to Joseph on his return to education.
