Class of 1982 Summer 2023 Class Note

It’s summer again in northern New England — the arrival of warm weather is always a celebration. Hard to believe we are now approaching our mid-60s, but it’s nice to see classmates continuing to do exciting things.

Dr. Eric J. Holsapple celebrated the release of his book Profit with Presence: The Twelve Pillars of Mindful Leadership (Greenleaf Book Group). The book explores the ways mindfulness and success go hand-in-hand and provides tools and exercises to help leaders implement mindful practices into their lives and careers. Eric and his family split their time between Maine and Colorado.

Kathy Stockmann Woodbrey was named executive director of the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals. Kathy has been with the organization for more than 11 years and has a lifelong commitment to equine welfare.

Jamie Russell was inducted into the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame. In his 38 years coaching boys’ and girls’ basketball at Piscataquis, Penobscot Valley, and Central high schools, Jamie racked up 422 wins. He’s also written two books on the history of high school basketball in Maine.

Rick Fournier received the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce’s highest honor, the Norbert X. Dowd Award, in recognition of his contributions to the Bangor region. A retired banker, Rick is chair of the Bangor City Council.

Peter Farragher retired from his post as CEO of the Down East Family YMCA in Ellsworth after 24 years. Among the achievements during his tenure was the launch of Camp Discovery, a day camp on Webb Pond in Eastbrook, where kids enjoy swimming, hiking, archery, outdoor education, and other camp activities.

Peter Lyman was named a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Lions Clubs International Foundation. The Fellowship honors the recipients’ commitment to humanitarian service. Peter lives in Norridgewock.
