Class of 1990 Winter 2024 Class Note

In June 2023 Greg Cronin G was announced as the new head coach of the National Hockey League’s Anaheim Ducks located in Anaheim, CA. He was an assistant coach at UMaine from 1988-1990 and from 1993-1995. Greg was also the interim head coach during the 1995-1996 season and led the team to a berth in the Hockey East championship game. Before going to the Ducks, he was the head coach of the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League for five seasons and led the team to four playoff appearances.

In May 2023, Guy Perron ’04G, former two-time UMaine hockey captain, died after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Between 1986 and 1990, Guy amassed 62 goals and 84 assists to help the Black Bears make four NCAA Tournament appearances. He is survived by his wife, Renee Haney Perron ’97, and their children Jack, Marc-Andre, and Grace ’21.
