Greetings, Black Bears!  What’s new in your corner of the world?  A few classmates have had some employment changes this year.

In June, George Gervais left his position as the longest-serving commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development. George was appointed to that position in 2011, but he had been working with the department since 2008, serving as development program manager and business development specialist, and assistant commissioner before becoming commissioner.

Rev. Charlotte Lehmann G was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist minister in October 2017 by the First Universalist Church in Auburn, ME. She served the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee, FL, as their interim minister from 2016-18. In June 2018, she was called by the Bull Run Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Manassas, VA, to serve as their next full-time minister beginning in August. Throughout her geographic location changes, she has continued to explore the geology around her because she is not only a lifelong UU, but also a lifelong geologist.

Anyone getting together with some friends from UMaine soon? You can celebrate in style with Black Bears in a Box! Give the Alumni Association a few details of your event (https://www.umainealumni.com/black-bears-box/), and they will send you a Black Bears in a Box package with all the UMaine Alumni swag you’ll need, including cups, napkins, a pennant, and more! All they ask in return is that you send a good photo or two of the event, and let them know who else from UMaine attended. How great is that?

I hope you have fun celebrating all your milestones and memories with friends and family.

M-A-I-N-E, Gooo BLUE!
