Class of 1992 Winter 2021 Class Note

Greetings, Class of 1992, and best wishes for 2021. We are in need of someone
to write future columns for the class. Please consider lending a hand to report
updates.

Laura Roberts Umphrey ’94G is now director of the School of Communications at
Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. She joined the faculty of Northern
Arizona University as a professor of communication in 2002.

Scott Pellerin is senior director of player development for the National Hockey
League’s Toronto Maple Leafs. He works with the draft picks in conjunction with
the minor league coaches, one of whom is Greg Moore ’06. Scott’s daughter
Jordan is a senior at UMaine.

Stephen Ouellette was one of the authors of a publication that received an award
for best external publication. The Institute for Defense Analyses 2020 Larry D.
Welch Award went to Stephen and his coauthors for “Characterizing the Orbital
Debris Environment Using Satellite Perturbation Anomaly Data.” In the article,
the authors developed a novel concept to identify space debris.

Ethelle Lord ‘92G was sorry to report that her husband died just two months prior
to their 25th anniversary. His long career included teaching business courses at
UMaine Presque Isle. Ethelle, who lives in Mapleton, ME, is an authority on the
subject of dementia coaching and the founder of the International Caregivers
Association.
