Class of 1992 Winter 2024 Class Note

Winter greetings, Class of ’91! There is an opening for someone to write this column. Please contact abigail.zelz@maine.edu to learn more. It’s a simple twice-a-year task, and it doesn’t require footnotes or lab reports!

Here’s a sample of what’s happening with members of the class:

Jason Simcock ’96G left Androscoggin Bank and joined Northeast Bank in Lewiston as senior vice president/senior government banker last spring.

Jack Frost G was named 2023 Citizen of the Year by the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce. Jack has served the town in numerous capacities and says that being engaged has enriched his life in many ways. He is vice president, director of community giving at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, and previously served as executive director of the Maine Coast Hospital Foundation. He has served on numerous boards and committees and his “commitment, time, and passion has assisted in the growth of the community,” according to his award.

Jessica Braun Archer ’09G, ’13 CAS was named Penobscot County Teacher of the Year in May. Jessica is the special education and adult education teacher at Orono Middle School. She earned her M.Ed. and a certificate of advanced study from UMaine.

Another outstanding educator is Melissa Martin, who teaches history and social studies at Oakmont Regional High School in Ashburnham, MA. Last July, she received the Excellence in Education Award. “Beyond her exceptional teaching skills, Melissa exhibits remarkable kindness, patience, and support for her students,” said a colleague.
