Class of 1994 Winter 2021 Class Note

Hello, fellow classmates,

We hope that you are all doing well and staying healthy in these crazy COVID
times. We are very much looking forward to celebrating the end of 2020 and a
fresh start in 2021. Happy New Year to all, and please let us know how you have
been faring through the chaos.

We heard that the United State Air Force Lt. Col. Alice Reynolds Briones was
named director of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System on February 21,
2020. She is the first female director of AFMES. As director, Alice leads an
organization of approximately 300 military, civilian, and contractor personnel who
provide comprehensive services in forensic pathology, forensic toxicology, DNA
technology, and identification and mortality surveillance for the Department of
Defense.

In May, the Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA)
honored a number of athletic administrators for their contributions, including Todd
Livingston of South Portland (Southwestern Maine Activities Association). Todd
was nominated for both the Frank Kovaleski Professional Development Award
and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Distinguished
Service Award.

Cary Weston is a partner in the Bangor-based marketing and communications
firm of Sutherland Weston. The firm earned four national Telly Awards for video
production. Established in 1979, the Telly Awards are the premier awards
honoring video and television across all screens.

Andrew Campo is the band director at the Montezuma-Cortez Middle School in
Cortez, CO. The music program was honored in the spring with a national award
for its inclusiveness and excellence by the NAMM Foundation, the philanthropic
arm of the National Association of Music Merchants. The program’s inclusivity
efforts include making sure that all students have access to programming and
instruments.

Finally, last but not least, a big shout out to Melanie Manzer Kyer, who actually
took the time to send in some news. Melanie, who majored in German and
French while at UMaine, is currently a German teacher at York High School in
York, ME. She published her first picture book, The Great Holiday Cookie Swap.
