Class of 2001 Summer 2019 Class Note

Bonnie Joy Richards Dewkett

Summer is here and it’s time to celebrate some of our fellow graduates and their newest life accomplishments. We don’t have a lot of news this time around, so if you have something to share, please send it along to the Alumni Association office or to me at blkbear19@yahoo.com. Thank you!

Matthew Grondin’s love of Pat’s Pizza runs deep. This past fall, he and another UMaine alum, Matthew Clark ’00, visited all 17 Pat’s locations in 24 hours. Yes, you read that right. This is a challenge and a day that they will never forget.

Philip McGeoghan was inducted into the University of Maine Sports Hall of Fame last fall. This is a great honor for UMaine grads. Philip was a two-sport athlete — he participated in track and field and also played football. Philip deserves his spot among champs.

Shanna Jackman (visit shannajackman.com) works as a public safety dispatcher in Massachusetts, and is also a singer-songwriter who regularly performs the National Anthem. Shanna often performs for the Boston Bruins and has performed at Fenway and TD Garden, at venues such as Hard Rock Boston, and at parades and other events.

“The first game I performed at was at Alfond in November 2001 as a student. I wore a NY shirt to pay tribute to 9/11. I remember especially since it was still so fresh in everyone’s hearts and minds. I will never forget it,” she recalls.
