Hello, Class of 2002!
Nancy Kelley G recently retired from Winthrop High School. Having taught at Winthrop for 33 years, she first taught business and then French! Congrats on the retirement and successful career!
Last spring, Mandy Cronin was named the general manager of the Buffalo Beauts of the National Women’s Hockey League. After playing four years for the Black Bears, Cronin went on to play in several leagues after leaving Orono and even co-founded the Canadian Women’s Hockey League!
Barbora Garbova Higgins G was recently announced as the new vice president, commercial credit team leader for Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. Congrats on the promotion!
Alanna Hounsell Stevenson was named principal of Saint Dominic Academy’s Lewiston campus, which houses the pre-K to grade 5. She previously served as the dean of students and an English teacher at Saint Dominic Academy’s Auburn campus, across the river, which includes grades 6-12. Before joining Saint Dominic Academy, Alanna taught middle and high school in Readfield and was an adjunct writing instructor at Central Maine Community College.
Recently, Jed Patterson made the move from Virginia to Delaware to serve as assistant general counsel and vice president of LabWare, an international computer software company.
Last but not least, Shana Goodall G, ’16 CAS was recently recognized as the 2019 Maine History Teacher of the Year from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Teaching at Orono High School for the past 16 years, she has taught various history, government, geography, and politics courses, as well as several other electives. She was recognized for her creative use of technology, adaptable learning environment, and ability to connect the present and local history to world events to bring the lessons “home” to students.
