Class of 2003 Summer 2019 Class Note

UMaine Alumni Association

Sara Green-Hamann ’10G is working as vice president of operations at Dennis Paper and Food Service in Hampden. She has been with the company in different capacities since 2015. She previously worked in human resources at Dennis and The Jackson Lab, and has been an adjunct faculty member at both UMaine and Husson University.

Philip Badger joined the Brewer office of CES, an engineering firm. He has many years of experience in electrical design.

Michelle McLaughlin White is a vice president of client management at Colonial Life in Columbia, SC. She has been with the company since 2012. Before that, Michelle worked at Unum, Colonial Life’s parent company, and as an operations analyst at Unum US. Outside of work, she volunteers with the Girl Scouts.

Abe ’07 and Heather Cressey Furth continue to expand their businesses in Bangor and Orono. They purchased a downtown Bangor commercial building with plans to renovate and rent it. And — keep this in mind for your next visit to Orono — their Orono Brewing Company has a new large location at 61 Margin Street in Orono. On a side road off of Route 2, the former concrete plant houses a brewery, restaurant, and bar with an industrial atmosphere.

Tracy Guerrette continues to run. She ran in a marathon in December in Sacramento, CA. Unfortunately, her time was slightly longer than the time needed to quality her for the 2020 Olympic Trials. While running, Tracy suffered a broken bone in her left foot in March, which prevented her from participating in spring marathons, though she is still considering one in the fall. She has run the Boston Marathon as well as marathons in other locations.

“I love running, and I don’t function well without it, not only physically but spiritually, emotionally, and mentally,” she said.

The Class of 2003 needs a class volunteer to write the news. It’s an easy job and only takes a little time each spring and fall. Please contact the Alumni Association at the above address to become the Class of 2003 correspondent.

Have a great summer!
