Hi, Class of ’06! Here are some updates from our classmates:

Congratulations to Richard Dunton on his promotion to chief executive officer and president of Main-Land. Rick has worked at Main-Land since graduation, and since 2023 he has been the chief operations officer. Main-Land has offices in Livermore Falls, Falmouth, and Newport.

Regional School Unit 4 Superintendent Katherine Grondin CAS retired after 39 years as a teacher, mentor, and administrator. During Katy’s career she held positions as a second-grade teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Katy received the National Distinguished Principal of the Year Award from the Maine Principals Association in 2007 and the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Maine School Superintendents Association in 2019.

Tyler Alexander teaches American history and government in Vermont. He recently wrote a book, If I Can Get Home This Fall: A Story of Love, Loss, and a Cause in the Civic War (now available on Amazon and elsewhere!). Tyler told us: “The centerpiece of the book is a remarkable collection of letters written by a soldier named Dan Mason (from Glover, VT) to his sweetheart back home. Mason served in the 6th VT Infantry before becoming an officer in an all-Black regiment, the 19th US Colored Troops. He strongly supported the policies of the Lincoln administration to vigorously prosecute the war, including emancipation, conscription, and the arming of Black troops. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in the book exploring how understandings of race, democracy, national identity, and patriotism shaped the narrative about the meaning of the war, then and since.”

Bryan Beaulieu ’08G started his own structural engineering firm called Foundry Structural Engineering based out of Brunswick. The firm specializes in the design of cold formed steel construction. Bryan is licensed to provide engineered drawings in all of New England and beyond. Prior to starting Foundry, Bryan did this work with his previous employer for 17 years.

Classmates, please email your life updates for me to include in next issue! We would love to hear from you.
