Class of 2010 Summer 2019 Class Note

Bobby Collins

Hello, Class of 2010! I hope everyone is enjoying summer and has plans for some vacation time.

Every year, US Cellular holds a competition for the Most Valuable Coach of the Year contest. The contest is held to honor current K-12 coaches across the country who inspire their players through leadership and community involvement. This year, Sarah Harbison Williams was a finalist, ultimately coming in third place and winning $15,000 for her school. The panel of judges granting the awards included Maya Moore, WNBA league MVP, and NFL wide receiver Randall Cobb. Sarah is a first-grade teacher and high school softball coach in Hodgdon, ME.

Captain Jonathan and Jordan McCafferty Harris welcomed a baby girl, Parker Grace, on October 6, 2018. Parker Grace is Jordan and Jonathan’s second daughter, joining her big sister, Reagan. Their family is currently stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, with the United States Marine Corps. A big congratulations to Jordan and Jonathan on the new addition to their family!

Forbes Magazine featured an article in October about Flowfold, the company founded by Charley Friedman, who partnered with Devin McNeill and James Morin. Thanks to the quality of their products and their marketing persistence, Flowfold’s strong, lightweight wallets are now sold at L.L. Bean. Their success at L.L. Bean led to their distribution in all Bean retail stories, including 25 in Japan. The Flowfold team has now taken the giant step of raising capital and scaling up production.

Although Christi Holmes and her family didn’t hunt when she was growing up in Machias, she later became interested in where her food came from. An avid outdoorswoman, Christi thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail solo after graduation. She later hiked the 380-mile Camino de Santiago in Spain. Moving to the Portland area to work as an engineer, she got her hunting license in 2013.

Christi was profiled in the Portland Press Herald for starting the Facebook group Maine Women Hunters. The group has more than 1,000 members and offers tips, advice, and shares stories for women hunters. Thank you to those of you who reached out to me about updates you would like included in this column. If any classmates have anything they would like me to add in the future, please send it my way. I hope everyone enjoys the summer!
