The Class of 2013 needs someone to write this column twice a year. How about a belated new year’s resolution to help? It’s a simple job, and the Alumni Association helps you find news. Contact abigail.zelz@maine.edu to learn more.

Here’s a sampling of what’s happening with classmates.

Krystal Martin was promoted in the Manchester, NH, office of Baker Newman Noyes. She is now manager in the risk and business advisory practice, and has been with the firm since 2014.

Alison Lane works at Coastal Enterprises in their Maine Small Business Development (SBDC) office, located in Bangor. Alison, who started Logical Sip Café & Bakery in Brewer, has experience starting and growing a small business. With the SBDC she will advise small business owners on a range of matters such as accounting, packaging, expanding, and more.

Corey Conner was inducted into the UMaine Sports Hall of Fame last fall. Corey was a 10-time America East champion and a two-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-American at UMaine. She also holds the America East outdoor record in the 5,000 meters.

While working as a movie usher after grad school, Patrick Pittis wrote a sci-fi thriller Rubble, which Universal Pictures has purchased. The communications major moved to California with his wife, classmate Meghan Ballard, after graduating from UMaine. They worked several jobs to save money before Patrick studied film and earned a master’s at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. During his stint as a movie usher, Patrick wrote the movie script, which has a sci-fi twist. Patrick says that he brainstorms during his two-hour one-way commute, and then writes at home.

Kasey Ladd works at  Northern Light Gynecology in Bangor. After graduating with a nursing degree from UMaine, Kasey earned her M.S. in nursing, nurse-midwifery in Kentucky.

Please consider helping the Class of 2013 by writing the class column and helping classmates be informed of each other’s news.

Hope your 2020 is off to a great start!
