Hello, Class of 2014! I am so excited to be the new columnist for this article. It has been a successful year for many of you and I’ve documented those who have shared below! For those who would like to be featured in our next edition, please contact me using the information at the top of the column.

Jacob Longfellow finished his master’s in microbiology at UMaine last year. He is now in his first year as a medical student at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Logan and Jennifer Ferguson Desmond both received their master’s degrees from Ball State University and have returned to their alma mater. Jenny works as an assistant director in the office of admissions at UMaine. Logan works at IMG Learfield Ticket Solutions at UMaine Athletics.

Carlton Charles made his mixed martial arts debut in August of this year. It took Carlton a mere 23 seconds to earn a TKO victory over previously undefeated Josh Jones in their amateur middleweight match at “NEF 30: Rumble in Bangor.”

Jared Foster G began his job at Bucksport High School on a high note. As the new athletic director there as of August, the first item on his docket was to order a State Championship banner for the softball team’s Class C state title win.

Morgan Kinney ’16G, who now lives in Houston, TX, continued her passion for volunteering after Hurricane Harvey hit Texas. She organized a number of hurricane relief volunteers through her job at Rice University’s Center for Civic Leadership. She also fostered numerous shelter dogs after the storm. For a picture of Morgan and one of the dogs, see the class Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/UMaineClass2014/

Jeremy Ashlock ’16G has expanded his Hallowell-based juice and smoothie café, Juiced. You can visit either his Water Street location in Hallowell or Forest Avenue one in Portland for organic, local lunches, snacks, protein shakes, and fair trade products.

Please remember to reach out to me at jamorse61@gmail.com to fill me in on any major or minor events happening in your life. In my world, I completed my graduate degree at Lenoir-Rhyne University this year, started in the accounting department at Maxwell Health, and was married to Allison Hoyt ‘15 in Portland.
