Another hearty congratulations to Melissa Malmstedt G, who was recognized as part of a national award-winning team working with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension 4-H to develop and deliver an at-home aquaponics program that serves youth interested in fish and at-home aquaria during the COVID-19 pandemic. The award was the 2021 Denise Miller National 4-H Innovator Award, presented by the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals. Melissa is education and outreach coordinator at the University of Maine Center for Cooperative
Aquaculture Research.
Nathan Williams has continued to build on his rugby career from UMaine, and recently joined the University of Alabama men’s rugby team as head coach. Nathan and his wife, Madeline Shaw Williams, live in Tuscaloosa, AL.

The city of Lewiston announced multiple new hires recently, including Faith Thomas, licensed professional engineer and now project engineer, for public works.
Shelby Hartin joined Versant Power in Bangor as communications specialist, while also returning to UMaine to pursue her MBA. She previously worked at Colby College in admissions and as assistant dean.
Finally, closer to home, I’m honored to have joined the UMaine Alumni Association Board of Directors last year. It’s a privilege to be able to serve all our alumni and friends in this capacity. Go Blue!
