Class of 2016 Class Note

Class of ’16 — what’s up? We’d like to hear from you!

We have a few news items to share.

Max Andrews is interim head football coach at the University of Chicago.

He was hired as the offensive line coach by the school two years ago, after serving as both assistant offensive line coach and quality control coach for the Black Bears during the 2022 season.

Also in football news, Patrick Ricard played his eighth season with the Baltimore Ravens, which was the final year of his contract. He has played fullback for the Ravens, which is a change from his Black Bear career, when he played defense.

Ambureen Rana, a member of the Maine House of Representatives from Brewer, was interviewed about youth engagement in politics by Julian Ober ’24 for Public Service Review. Ambureen is the policy and programs coordinator for the Maine Women’s Lobby.

In midcoast Maine, Joe Cough G is the pianist at the Edgecomb Community Church. Joe, who lives in Waldoboro with his wife and two sons, has played piano and organ for various churches for the past decade. He has also taught voice, piano, guitar, and songwriting as well as conducted workshops for music teachers.

Karen Stamieszkin ’16 Ph.D., a research scientist at the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in West Boothbay, led a study on climate resilience on the ocean’s surface. Her research confirms that the ocean is changing at the molecular level, in a study of microscopic plankton in the North Atlantic. Her results lay the foundation for further experiments to study the impact of mixotrophy on nutrient cycling and predict how marine life will respond to climate change.

The Class of 2016 is looking for a volunteer to write this column twice a year. Please contact the Alumni Association or abigail.zelz@maine.edu to pitch in.
