Hello, fellow Class of 2019 Black Bears! We have some exciting news to share from our classmates!
Let’s begin in Freeport with Zachau Construction, a general contractor company. Charlie Zachau joined Zachau Construction part-time in 2012, holding various positions. After earning his degree in civil engineering, Charlie became a full-time member of the Zachau Construction team. He was recently promoted to director of special projects and has been an integral part of L.L. Bean projects.
Heading to Bucksport, Susan Lessard was celebrated for her longtime service as the town manager, with a retirement party attended by many current and former town councilors, town employees, community members, and family. In addition to her town management role, Susan has served as the chairperson of the Maine Board of Environmental Protection, and she will continue to contribute to Bucksport’s critical issues, including those related to the town’s dam and landfill.
Heading out of state to Houston, Jeremy Peña’s baseball career took on another honor. He was announced as a member of the American League All-Star team in July. The Houston Astro’s shortstop continues to grow in his skills as a baseball player, and this shows in the successes he is receiving.
