September 20, 2021: 1963 September Zoom Cancelled

Class of 1963 Sept. 22 Zoom Cancelled

Dear Class of 1963 Members,

Due to low turnout and a few anti-Zoom comments, we are canceling the planned Zoom class meeting on Sept. 22. Yes, we have had a lot of Zoom.

The new plan is to hold the lunch part of the original in-person agenda without Peaks Island or Ron Brown home excursions early next year or as soon as Covid permits.  A new agenda item for that meeting is planning for our 60th Reunion in 2023.

Thanks to all who signed up for the original meeting or the Zoom version.  Remember to cancel your Holiday Inn reservation unless you still plan to go to Portland without the rest of us.

If you haven’t seen the interview with Dan Churchill ’63 or read the David Sklar ’63 article they are available on our Class Page.

I have had several folks refer to previous emails as fundraisers – we have purposely avoided any direct fundraising, but since it has been brought up, if interested, you can support any UMaine activity through the UMaine Foundation. You send them the contribution and tell them where it should go. There is always the 1963 Class Fund that we use to pay for communications, class activity or in the last year, support the Student Crisis Fund. The 1963 Class Scholarship Fund is another option, it is currently valued at $105,183 and this year generated a scholarship award of $2,447 that went to Connor Murphy, a fifth year senior majoring in Ecology and Environmental Sciences.

Questions, comments?

P.S. Please send Class Notes input to Elaine Murphy Burnham elaine.burnham@gmail.com. Let her know what you have been up to lately! Even a small update about yourself is helpful! Her deadline is September 27.

Sincerely,

Dana Dolloff
