Governor Visits Campus to Address Climate Change

Maine Governor Janet Mills held a press conference outside Buchanan Alumni House on December 1 to mark the progress of the Maine Climate Council and announce new initiatives to combat climate change. Members of UMaine’s Climate Change Institute have worked with the state to advance measures to mitigate climate change.

President Joan Ferrini-Mundy welcomed Gov. Mills and the Maine Climate Council to campus observing, “The University of Maine System is a committed partner in the work of the Maine Climate Council. Researchers from the University of Maine travel the world and the state to contribute to global understanding of climate change and to help develop solutions to the climate challenges that are impacting Maine’s communities and natural resources.”
