A New Chapter for UMaine Engineering

The E. James and Eileen P. Ferland Engineering Education and Design Center (Ferland EEDC) opened last month with over 500 people from throughout the state attending the grand opening.

The state-of-the-art facility will have the capacity to increase engineering enrollment by a third — 600 additional students a year — to meet the demand of students and employers in the state. The building is home to the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Biomedical Engineering Program, and includes teaching laboratories for the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program.
