Student Alumni Ambassadors Establish Leadership Positions

As the semester comes to an end, the Student Alumni Ambassadors have much to be proud of.

The full membership met twice this semester to elect officers, write the organization’s constitution and bylaws, and apply to become a university-affiliated student organization. Members elected the following (pictured above): Jeremy Richards ’20, president; Owen Vadala ’21, vice president; Rachel Hyatt ’21, finance manager; and Max Burtis ’22, secretary.

In collaboration with the full group, and upon approval by the group’s leadership, the Student Alumni Ambassadors have become an affiliated student group, which will give them the ability to table at student organization programming and to continue recruitment. The group’s goals for the spring semester include being recognized by Student Government and executing an event of their own.

The Student Alumni Ambassadors program is a variation of the Student Alumni Association that previously existed on campus. Members of this new organization work with the Alumni Association as representatives of the student body on and off campus at alumni gatherings, student-recruitment receptions, and at UMaine advocacy events. They also advise the Alumni Association’s leadership on matters of interest to current students.
